Why?

We had a new one in the garage from our last move that we had yet to install. The new one is larger and easier on the eyes.

Always nice to keep on in the garage for drinks, ice cream, and overflow. I’ve always wanted to do that, but I don’t have a big enough garage.

I can’t see that working out very well I’d have to unbolt the hatch and have it standing straight up.

Datsun 240Z and 2011? Subaru Outback that loves oil more than life itself

Guarantee you it will break within a week of getting rid of this one!

2013 outback on its second engine. This one is only burning 1 qt per 3,500 miles. The Datsun doesn’t burn any or leak any oil!

If anything I might get a mini frig. The new one was in the garage under wraps and I only used it for one year to store deer meat.

I was absolutely shocked with my Datsun today , I checked my oil today, about 1500 miles after I got it changed, and it hasn’t burned any! The VQs love oil almost as much as subarus

I used to have the same fridge! There’s a servo-driven flap inside which is used to control the refrigerator-side temperature by controlling the flow of air from the freezer to the fridge. It has a tendency to crack and break. I repaired it twice.
We had my in-laws old fridge in our garage, so we always had space for extras . After my second kitchen fridge repair, my in-laws bought us a brand-new fridge . I was out of town when it happened, so it was a surprise. The thing that upset me was that they didn’t take the ancient garage fridge and move the kitchen fridge into its place. No. They took the kitchen fridge and left us the new one!
To this day, I have no idea why my wife let that happen!

So that’s why it freezes lettuce!!! What a terrible design. Otherwise I’ve never had an issue with it, it was probably installed around 2004.

The damper assembly might need to be repaired/replaced. When it’s working, you’ll hear a little swoosh-whomp as the door sweeps closed. If it’s broken, you might hear the electrical noise of the servo moving , but the swoosh-whomp of the door moving and closing is absent. I repaired ours with a little baling wire and some epoxy.
If you aren’t up to taking it that far apart, a brand new damper assembly is about $100 and it’s an easy swap.
Check your model to get the right replacement part number.

I think it’s working correctly, it’s just all the cold air comes out that one side vent.

Ours started freezing stuff placed on the left side of the fridge when the damper broke. The crack kept the damper from closing completely, so cold freezer air would just pour in on the left side.

Okay then, it broke. Can confirm shit is freezing.

It takes about ten minutes to get the damper assembly removed and the damper out of it , depending on how much junk you have in the fridge. Ours cracked where the server motor shaft is inserted into the damper door. My repair involved drilling a couple of holes in the plastic, wrapping some baling wire around the cracked area for additional support , then gluing it into place. Wait for the glue to harden and reassemble. Easy!
Good luck!
